Today I attended a fashion-forecasting seminar in New York.
I wore my very favorite red cashmere. Long, belted, and shawl collared. I like to dress up a bit for New York since it is the pinnacle of US fashion, and the fact that I would be joining others in the fashion industry.
You know, you gotta dress the part.
Anyway, the seminar was going good. I was taking diligent notes, I was looking good in my cashmere and then my eye strayed…
Out the window.
Oh, what a lovely sight – a mama cow cleaning her newly born baby calf. It’s calving season here at the ranch and I just couldn’t help pausing the forecasting webinar to watch one of God’s simple wonders.

Yes I too love where you work. I haven’t a clue what your job consists of. All I ever knew was nursing.
That brings back some wonderful memories of me, granny, roanie, paint, Gus, big grey, and Captain having coffee on the porch with that same view. All the above were on my lap and at my feet and the cows had their heads hanging over the fence. Thank you for sharing.
Lucky you! My husband did the same thing and saw a cow calving that had been at it a while and the calf didn’t make it. He’s not in the best mood.

Mrs M- isn’t that funny, I told Audrey about a year ago that I wanted to go to nursing school so I could be of some use. The mission field if nothing else. She just laughed at me and told me to “keep designing”. I really can’t do much of anything else. Fortunately or unfortunately – It is just what I do.
I’m always the last one picked for mission team – I have no skills! I went with a medical mission group to the Amazon and they didn’t know what to do with me. I ended up on the eyeglass team and LOVED it! My Spanish was horrible. Jack told me I was asking about their “years” instead of their “eyes”. I hope I didn’t blind somebody.
Dusty, thank you for house sitting and loving on my doggies. I’ll have to catch you up on Cami Girl. She is with an elderly lady in North Texas and is doing amazing things. Such a blessing to everyone. I’ll post pics of her.
Leah, I don’t think you ever completely get over those losses. We started the boys out young watching and learning about life and death. Sometimes it is a calf, others it’s the mom. We have raised some cute little orphans, but they never do really turn back into cows…they’re more like pets. And you just can’t load those up in the stock trailer at sale time! Life lessons.
Thanks for the laugh, Cheryl. I think that’s a great way to experience NYC! Though NY can be a lot of fun, there’s nothing like the great outdoors right outside your window!
