Nephew Buster & Cowgirl Cupid

I have a fun little collection of vintage cowgirl themed valentine cards and since today is Valentine’s Day it’s the perfect opportunity to share one with you.

.

This is my favorite - a Victorian valentine from the Golden Age of Postcards ca. early 1900s.  I don’t know the artist, but it was printed in Germany and done in bas relief adding dimension and interest.  The imagery is a hoot – a butt-naked cupid atop a horse and throwing a lasso of hearts at a train.

.

TRAIN?  I don’t get the train, but I do have to wonder if Cupid’s bottom side is a bit rashed!

.

.

Cupid’s butt to saddle wasn’t just lost to me, take a look at the reverse side of the card and read what Aunt Sizzie had to say to Nephew Buster:

.

Hello Buster how is this for a pretty girl on horse back.  how would you like to ride with her.  From your Aunt & Uncle Will & Sizzie

.

.

Happy Valentine’s Day Everyone!

xoxo – Cheryl
