DoubleOven: Cherry Pie for George

Today is George Washington’s Birthday, hmm…..

The first thing that comes to my mind is cherry pie, – Oh, and of course the American Revolution, … and the Crossing of the Delaware, …and the Father of our country…

but pie first!

George’s Cherry Pie

Ingredients:

.

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400°

  1. In a saucepan, combine juice from two cans of cherries,
  2. add sugar & cornstarch to juice,
  3. bring to a boil and cook 1 minute longer until thick and bubbly,
  4. remove from heat,
  5. add cherries, almond extract, and butter.

Line 9″ pie platter with pastry and fill with cherry mixture. Add lattice top crust and scallop edges.

Bake at 400° for 55 minutes.

I can not tell a lie, this is the best Cherry Pie!
