Roy Rogers Meets Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been talking about how the Culture Clash Collection is an ethnic blending of different cultures and aesthetics and I think the little top I want to show you today is a perfect example. The Mimosa Rodeo tee is an unexpected mixing of the American West and the Far East. It’s Roy Rogers meets Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon – classic rodeo styling like the:
- pearl snap front,
- western yokes,
- and arrow-tipped smiley pockets
saddle nicely beside oriental graphics like the:
- Chinese dragon,
- lucky lanterns,
- and mimosa blossoms.
I think the vibrant colors and the unexpectancy of the Asian inspired graphics make this little rodeo shirt fresh and fun. It also has great timing; perfectly on cue for rodeo season and for Chinese New Year.
Happy Chinese New Year, Y’all and Let’er Buck!
.
side note:
In case you are wondering what the Chinese calligraphy means, here it is: (top to bottom)
- Jesus is LORD
- Play Nice Be Free

I love her hair in the first photo! The shirt is very fun…would be fun to wear to a rodeo tomorrow for the Chinese New Year. if there is such a thing happening somewhere tomorrow. Also, a side note sorta in keeping with your Culture Clash collection: my hubby and I have started a new experimental cuisine we call Asia-Mex where we blend the 2 cultures in our dinners. Think guacamole made with edamame and avocado. Or soy sauce and chipotle peppers. Yummy. Now I’m realizing I need to be wearing one of these tees while eating these meals…very Asia-(Tex)Mex!
OK Jessica, you have piqued our interest…now we want you to post one of your Asian Tex-Mex recipies. Are you up for a guest post?
Sure, I’d love to….I’ll get something together and get back to you, Cheryl.
WOW!!! I LOVE the concept and the shirts – especially the hot pink one!!! It’s got my name all over it!!! May I get one in Yoakum?
Be sure to give your mom a hug for me…haven’t seen her in ages!!
Molly
Makes me hungry now. Hey Cheryl, maybe you could show the video of when you were playing basketball while visiting in Asia as we try Jessica’s Asian Tex-Mex recipe!
watch it now Doris – you know this is the world wide web! Someone might actually read this!
Hey Molly, we were just talking about you the other day – how the heck are you?! We need to get together and cook something up.
Im so hungry right now I haven forgotten how cute this little rodeo shirt is. All I can think about is what Jessica is cooking up! I think the shirt is a must have for preparing your nest Asia-Mex meal.
