From the Archives: Flag Day
In honor of Flag Day,
we have dug in Double D Ranch’s archive and have come up with a photo of Audrey rock’n the Original Flag Jacket!
.
Anybody have one of these in their closet?

This photo brings back a lot of memories for me.
- This was our first EVER spring collection.
- The Persian Gulf War had just broke out and wanting to be patriotic, Neiman Marcus ordered a bunch of these flag jackets. Then I cried when I saw their left-overs marked down at Last Call.
- The photo was taken on the fly in downtown Yoakum across from the railroad tracks. (Notice the “Dinky Stop Cafe” window signage urging long gone, train passengers in for a meal)
- The old truck belonged to an employee and we just grabbed it and threw it in the photo at the last minute.
- The skirt fabric was my first attempt at reproducing an old fabric. I came across this haggard bandanna in New York and convinced somebody to print it for us. It still looks good.

I still have this jacket in my closet !!
Audrey always was and still is my favorite Double D model – nobody rocked it like she did!
Ditto! Still remembering getting those flags straight on the back of those jackets. Had the urge to salute but could not sew one handed! lol
Penny, we’ll let her know!
Hahaha! Salute away Karen!
Love the Jacket and the skirt rocks too…..Thanks for sharing
I Love all my DD flag items! My father inlaw was a WWII vet that was shot down while on a bomb run and was a POW. We are laying him to rest on Tuesday 3/1 at Willamette National full military honors! Every time I visited him and had on a DD piece of clothing he would tell me how much he liked what I was wearing! Every time that I put my Double D on I will think of my father inlaw!
Wow Janet! Very sorry for your loss. Sending prayers and Thanks to you, your father-in-law and family. I bet he was an awesome man!
You did a great job Karen! We miss you. I am with Vicki above. The flag jacket is one I too will always keep in my closet.
Janet, I sincere thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family this week as you lay a true hero to rest. Blessings.
Awe, Audrey will appreciate that, Penny. I think she is relieved she doesn’t have to do it anymore, but we have a good time looking back at all of the photoshoots!
