Kaw-Liga, That Poor Old Wooden Head
Posted on 13 November 2009
I am swamped working on the fall collection so I don't have much time to devote to blogging. There is one interesting item that appeared on my radar screen today and I couldn't resist sharing.  Vintage Galleries & Auction is offering this 19th century wood, carved cigar store Indian at auction later this month. Swoon, swoon. It is 76" high with polychrome paint (some loss) but very good for its age.  Bidding starts at $3,000 and is estimated to bring up to $6,000.  If you are interested in American folk art you might want to check out Vintage Galleries upcoming auction. l [caption id="attachment_1154" align="alignnone" width="575" caption="19th c. Cigar Store Indian"][/caption] l As for me, I will just swoon over the images and amuse myself with the rememory of the wooden Indian I designed for Double D Ranch™'s Home Collection.  It was hand carved overseas (I forget where) but the dang thing was so heavy it cost a fortune to get it shipped in.  We only made one sample due to the prohibitive shipping costs.  Luckily, it didn't sell and I got to keep it for myself.  It is so heavy you can't move it,
Just a quick "hello".
- ya just gotta dust around poor 'ol Kaw-Liga!l l
