What a beautifully shot video! I was lucky enough to meet Eddie after a concert in Colorado Springs in the 80’s. He showed us his tour bus, and I’ll never forget the knee high blue snakeskin boots he was wearing. Closest I can get to naming the jackets is the scout and the mesa.

I have quite a collection of Double D jackets and Oscar Betz jewelry and I’m a downhome Georgia girl. Sounds like he means the girl is a diva. Anyway the video is great and I love the song. I loved Eddy Raven and Johnny Rodriguez songs in the 70s and early 80s. They sure don’t make country singers like that these days. Thanks goodness for George Strait.

High blue snakeskin boots sound wonderful! Yes, I understand he is a really nice guy. I didn’t get to go when they shot the video but Jennifer said he and his entire crew were wonderful people. That sure is nice to know. And yes, one of the jackets is a scout…can you be more specific about which one? If so, you gotta DDR tee!

The first one I ever got was the black Martingale, I also have the “Be MIne” in a kind of rust red with fringe and hearts that is still my favorite, a turquoise soft leather one with fringe and studs that has a kind of western comic book lining, a buttery yellow one with appliques and fringe that I think is called Magnolia. I saw it in a window on the square in Santa Fe about 3 summers ago and had to have it and the filmy paisley skirt. Also have some of your jewelry, a pair of black jet earrings that I got from your Fredericksburg store, a belt with a large turquoise-encrusted buckle, and a big chunky turquoise necklace, plus I can’t count the skirts and tops because I have some in my cedar closet upstairs in case I lose weight. I am a Double D fanatic! I would love to hear your George stories! That Artist of the Decade show was fantastic. Thanks for sending out the shirt so quickly!

ps it was so hard to track my scoodle jacket there is a story about that but i love haveing the bass clef on it because i play sax and violin an artist who makes tie skirts and paintings of people from ties fliped for it and she is very talented so there you go. artist pick. i always feel like a rootin tootin cowgirl when i wear it with my day of the dead boots yee haw

The video is dark and small and it’s difficult to “read.” But I’m sure the stripped coat seen on the wall is your famous line starter, the blanket style coat from the blankets the Indians wove, Peace Blanket Jacket. But I believe I also see one of your Scout Jackets in the video as well. I hope I’m right. I’ve loved your clothing line ever since I first purchased a couple outfits as sold on HSN… I hated parting with one elegant 3 piece black skirt, flyaway jacket and matching stole with purple embroidery and antiqued silver studs—-when I dropped many sizes..

Thank goodness your dad suggested his daughters remake the one that was bought and idolized and remarketed. Let’s hear it for smart dads. My dad use to tell us kids: “Well, I guess 40, his age, can’t tell 20 how to make better decisions.” Through the years, those numbers changed…in the end, it was more like: “Well Dad, it seems 50 can’t tell 70 how to make a better decision.”

Cheryl – back to the Eddie Raven video – is one of the jackets called “Sweet Medicine”? I have to admit I still have some of the older Look Books, Double D Christmas cards (love the one where you are all dressed in red/black buffalo plaid), postcards, etc. Some of my favorite jackets over the years have been: Cowboy leather, Mrs. Douglas, Bozeman Trail, Velvet Sunday, Mic-Mac, Bandolier and I could go on and on!!

OK – would just love to hear Audrey’s story about George Strait – I have been to about 4 of his concerts over the years – the first in an outdoor amphitheater near Branson, MO in the late 70’s or early 80’s and Kathy Mattea was his opening act – he is the best!! If someone is not familiar with all your pre 2001 designs, how is it possible to correctectly identify them? I’ve spent a few hours now researching the internet for old pictures and title names because I enjoy the challenge. I stopped the video and literally stared at the pics and believe one jacket is large, perhaps a barn style jacket that looks perhaps suede, but it could be leather or corduroy. Now if I’m correct, I’ve just offered a clue to the others who are playing. One up on the wall could be a Cavalry type vest.

I’m pulling out of this game. I just want to know why you no longer sell on HSN…too costly???

That’s awesome, Audrey. I’ll bet ya’ll never thought back then he would become a household name. I’ve always wondered what Norma’s like because I’ve never heard her speak in all these years. That’s so funny about Presley. We took my daughter Lindsay to her first GS concert in Atlanta when she was 4 and she has loved him ever since. She’s 23 and in law school now.
By the way, the opening act back then was a new duo called Brooks and Dunn and the crowd yelled for George Strait the whole time they were on. I actually felt sorry for them!

Emily, Lets just say that a really good high school friend’s mother is Norma Strait’s cousin so we got to hang out with them just when he was becoming famous. I have my niece (presley) convinced that i dated George and that I broke if off to marry her Uncle Mickey. She keeps telling her mom she loves her Uncle Mickey but why couldn’t I have married George Strait!
