Dear Double D Ranch, I picked up an Indian Princess shirt, the one with the beads attached to create a necklace around an Indian Princess, in Red River NM a couple of years ago.  Everyone always remarks, "What a cool shirt!"  (I'm 58--I don't hear that very often any more...) followed by, "Who is the Indian Princess?  I have tried to give her a name, but nothing really fits. Can you tell me who she is, and if she is really an Indian Princess?  BTW, I love it that you were visiting Angel Fire when your brainchild was conceived, because I now live in Angel Fire.  A lot of creative things happen in this area, because we are closer to God here... Thanks, WW - Fire, NM
. . Well WW,  Thanks for your email.  Unfortunately I do not know the name of the lovely woman in the postcard from which the t-shirt is taken. I purchased the vintage card from Ebay several years ago and the only hint I have is the handwriting on the lower left of the sketch.  It says, "© 1911 Schlesinger Bros", and I believe "Schlesinger Bros." to be the publisher instead of the artist.  According to Pantufla's Flicker site,
Reproduction of a pencil drawing is a head and shoulders portrait of an unidentified white woman posing in Native American clothing. She wears a fringed hide shirt, bound pony tails, and a headdress.
So honestly, I cannot say who the woman is, but she is lovely and resembles Charles Dana Gibson's girls from the same time period.  Hopefully with this posting, others may see her image and be able to enlighten us on who the woman is. Thank you so much for your email and for being a true Double D Ranch Gal! - Cheryl PS: I think it is time for a new tee for you - why don't you give Susie a call at our Customer Service and she can get you fixed up with our new Go West Maiden Tee? . Yeah, I loved that jacket too. Unfortunately we didn’t produce many of them so if one turns up on Ebay or on a resale site – I’d grab it!
