Introduction to Fall 1: Wild Frontier

Posted on 09 August 2012

Ahh, it's fall fashion time and I can't wait to tell you all about it!

I did something different for fall 2012.  I created four different groupings or looks, under one big umbrella that I call, Call of the Wild. The first grouping, or look, is Wild Frontier and I drew my inspiration from Jeremiah Johnson and that era of our American history where brave souls tamed the Northwestern frontier.

The whole idea revolves around our gal roaming the woods, battling the harsh elements and surviving on the land. Her dress is influenced by lumberjacks, western miners, and nomadic Native Americans. Design elements range from grizzley furs, woodsman plaids, frontier petticoats, to hunting outerwear.  Look for reinforced elbow patches, ammo holders, plain's beadwork, and touches of Victorian gilt borrowed from old saloon mirrors. Our Double D Ranch gal this season knows her way around a rifle and how to survive in the wild frontier.

. . The colors for Wild Frontier were inspired by earthly tones and lumberjack hues. . . Over the next few weeks we'll dig deeper into Double D Ranch's Wild Frontier and look at inspiration behind the collection as well as how this look fits into the grand scheme of Call of the Wild. . . . .
