The Thunderbird is a mythical creature in North American indigenous tribe's culture and folklore. Considered a supernatural bird of strength and power, the Thunderbird frequents art, stories of old, and songs. The name Thunderbird stems from the belief that the beating of it's giant wings creates thunder and stirs the wind. Based on the size and power behind the Thunderbird, across the ingenious people, they agree that taking extra care to not get Thunderbirds angry is the best way to live.
The Kwakwaka'wakw and Cowichan tribes believes the Thunderbird could shapeshift into human form. Traced lineage says that families of Thunderbirds who shapeshifted into humans but kept private lives, live along the northern tip of Vancouver Island. We have any Vancouverite readers out there?!
