Going Viral: Boing Boing & Jezebel
Well, does two link-backs and a hand full of re-Tweets constitute going viral?
.
I think not, but it sure is interesting to watch. Here is what is happening on last week’s post,
“DoubleTake: Vogue January 1990′:
.
Boing Boing a zine turned group blog picked it up. If you remember a couple of months ago, Boing Boing exposed Ralph Lauren’s excessive hip carved Photoshopped ad with
“Dude, her head’s bigger than her pelvis,”
and all the fashion world logged on to see the ensuing catfight between Ralph’s suits and BB.
So anyway, here is what Boing Boing had to say about our DoubleTake on Vogue from twenty years ago:
The devil may wear Prada, but she evidently wanted you to wear pastel acrylics and then set fire to your hair.
.

Editors of Boing Boing
.
Ok, that’s exciting, so then it gets picked up by Jezebel: Celebrity, Sex, Fashion for Women and they took a whack at the tights featured on one of the models and commented,
Longer jackets over exercise clothes are the new, most important fashion item of the moment. — Karl Lagerfeld, to Vogue, in 1990. [DoubleTalk, via BoingBoing]
.
No, it’s not “viral”, but is nice to make a new connection.
Thanks Boing Boing and Jezebel!

WHOO-WE – Ride’em, Cowgirl!
It is the start of the rodeo season here in Texas, my friends, and we are all over it.
I’m crazy about rodeos – especially the big ones because it’s always a fashion show…and I LOVE fashion shows! So to kick start the season, I’m going to feature some of Double D Ranch’s™ cool rodeo tees over the next few days. They are all from our current Culture Clash Collection. So git one on and …

A Rainy Ride
I heard the dogs barking and going crazy yesterday morning, so I peeked out Audrey’s kitchen window to catch the Mesquite Trail-riders on their way to the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo.
Boy, it sure did make me homesick for a trail-ride.
I’m going to go dig up our trail-ride pictures for you and post them next week in celebration of the start of Texas rodeo season. In the meantime, enjoy these riders from Adkins Texas as they make their way to San Antonio by way of Seguin.

MAVERICK STYLE: Inspired by the West
I want to thank Cheryl for giving me the opportunity to tell you all about my new website, Maverick Style. This venture has allowed me to combine my passions with my work, and I am excited to share it with you!
Looking back, I believe that my love for the West started when I was a child, spending my summers in Park City, Utah and Jackson, Wyoming. I am truly inspired by mountain scenery and all the incredible wildlife that comes along with it.
I also enjoy expressing my creativity… through fashion, home décor, dancing, and singing. I love to explore boutiques, galleries, and arts and crafts shows, looking for the most unique products and talented artists and designers. And, strangely enough, the products and stores that appeal to me the most tend to become popular with everyone else as well!
And that is what Maverick Style is all about…celebrating the Western lifestyle, as well as the most creative talent in that arena. Currently we feature Western inspired boutiques, products, art, music, and events. However, I plan on expanding the site to include museums, lodges, guest ranches, restaurants, and more!
I also write a blog showcasing the “Best in the West,” and have already featured my favorite pieces from Double D’s Fall 2009 and Spring 2010 clothing lines. I have been a fan of Double D Ranch since I first discovered them in 1996, and believe the distinctive styling and detail work of their fashions to be among the finest in the industry.
I would truly appreciate your support in developing this online resource and community. If you know of any fabulous stores, products, artists, musicians or events that have not yet been featured on Maverick Style, please let me know about them. Or, just send me your comments regarding the website. I look forward to hearing from you!
With Kind Regards,
Christin Miller

If you haven’t heard, there is a new website out there starting to make rumblings. It’s called Maverick Style and it’s focusing on all the ‘best of the West’ including:
- art & photography
- events
- music
- fashion
- home furnishings
- jewelry
- gifts
- and fine purveyors of such
.
Maverick Style is the long time dream of founder Christin Miller. Christin is bringing her background with Paramount Pictures and the Walt Disney Company and combining it with what she loves – all things western. She likes to call it:
Re-branding the West.
But, don’t take my word for it. Christin has graciously agreed to be our first guest post here on the Double Talk blog. Take a look-see tomorrow and let Christin tell you what she is up to. But whatever you do, definitely put Maverick Style on your radar.
.
side note:
Double D Ranch™ was recently featured in Maverick Style. I love being included with the “best of the West”.
Thanks, Christin.
